I Knew I Needed Better Leadership Skills

I am a good enough leader, I think, that I realized I wasn’t a good enough leader and needed leadership development training. Does that make sense? I have always said that the best leaders are those men and women who realize what they lack to become an even better leader. Leadership isn’t using the right buzzwords or even knowing how to delegate to underlings. The best leaders are the people who can motivate people to do a better job. You want your people to want to work harder for you. You also want them to look up to you and recognize that they want to work for you.

I could do most of the technical parts of being a leader, but thought I lacked that charisma that makes people want to give you their all. That’s why I went online in search of a consulting group that could help me become better at what I do. I didn’t expect them to perform some grand makeover that would turn me into a Napoleon, but I did hope that they could teach me the skills I would need to motivate properly those who work directly under me. It’s important for my own career development.

It took a lot of research, but I did find a company that offers various workshops and seminars for those who wish to hone their skills. I have to say what they taught me really does work. I noticed a marked improvement in those working with me, not so much in their actual completed work but rather in how they interacted with me and how they helped me carry out my goals and vision. My boss noticed an improvement in my leadership abilities as well which is extremely important for my future advancement within my profession and at this company. I know they taught me a lot.
