Ways to Generate Interest in Learning Physics

Monday, March 26th, 2018

My worst subject in school was physics. My wife’s worst subject was physics. Now that our son is trying to get a perfect academic record, he is finding out what his worst subject is to study too. Can you guess what it is? Yes, it is physics too. They say that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Well, instead of settling for a lower grade point average, we went to to get him a dynamic tutor that is very popular with students. One thing about getting better grades in a subject you are not as interested in studying is to make it as fun and exciting as possible to study.

I used to fall asleep in my room trying to study physics to improve my grade. As soon as I would open the textbook, my eyes would immediately begin to get heavy. If my dad asked me if I wanted to go fishing, I was wide awake again. It is almost impossible to engage your brain and body to learn something that just does not interest you. Even though the various areas of physics are a part of daily life, it was not something I was interested in excelling at academically. (more…)

Getting a Home Security System from ADT in Omaha Was a Smart Move for Us

Sunday, March 11th, 2018

I have always had a mindset of safety first. I have worked with guys who just jump in and do things without putting much thought into the safety of their actions. They jeopardize their own safety, the safety of their coworkers and the job itself. I think about safety before action. It is not an obsessive thing. It is just normal stuff of being concerned enough to head off danger before it happens. For our home, we got ADT in Omaha to come out and install a full-featured home security system. I was really intrigued by the benefits of all the Smart Home features that are available today as well as the standard burglary and fire protection a home security system offers. (more…)

We Are Still Getting the House Ready

Friday, March 9th, 2018

The new house had a lot of issues when we got it, but my Dad and I looked it over really well and we made a list and figured out what it would cost to fix each problem one by one. We knew that it would take time and that we would have to set priorities so that the money would not run out. Of course we have been looking at prices on home security in Memphis, but that is not something that we are going to put at the top of the list. The big thing was the bathroom downstairs and that was a really serious issue. (more…)

Cleaning Before You Move Makes a Difference

Wednesday, January 31st, 2018

We were busy with moving into a new job. We both applied at a new company, and we both were accepted. This required us to move our residence on an accelerated time schedule. We had to be working our new jobs soon with only a few days off after resigning from our old positions. In order to take some of the workload off of us for the final cleanup after selling our condo, we hired a cleaning crew from We used them to both clean out our old place and clean our new place before moving in.

It was very nice to be able to move into our condominium with it being absolutely spotless. There was not a sign of anyone living there before us. Plus, our old place was cleaned to that degree, which made the property manager very happy. (more…)

This is Better Than a Rental House

Tuesday, July 25th, 2017

I always thought that I wanted to rent a house or a duplex because of the yard that would most certainly come with it. I know there are some places that have tiny yards, and I was even okay with that. I just wanted to be able to plant flowers and enjoy the view. I didn’t realize that I could have that and more with an apartment. I ended up doing a search for apartments near 28217 Charlotte NC when I was not able to find the right house to rent.

There were plenty of rental properties, but there was always something wrong with them. The neighborhood was too bad, the rent was too high, the rent was too low so I knew there would be problems, the landlord was just too eager to get me into one of them, and the list goes on and on. I needed a place to live though, so I bit the bullet and looked at apartment complexes. (more…)

Apartments Have Drastically Changed in the Last Decade or So

Monday, July 24th, 2017

The apartments of today are definitely not like the ones that even our parents had when they were our age and just starting out. Then, most complexes had a swimming pool and maybe assigned parking, but even those were not guaranteed. It is almost impossible to find a new complex that does not have a swimming pool, a fitness center and at least a few more amenities for residents. That is why I was able to be a bit choosy when I looked at apartments for rent in Temple Terrace FL.

I knew that the apartment complexes there had to be just like the ones in New York that I was leaving behind. (more…)

I Moved So I Can Have a Dog

Monday, July 24th, 2017

I was heartbroken when my landlord told me that I could not have a dog. I never thought to ask before because it wasn’t relevant to me at the time. I thought there was a possibility I might get a dog in the future, but I thought it would be okay since the last tenants had several dogs. When he told me no, I decided to move. I wanted a dog that much! I went to my computer and typed in ‘apartments for rent for 78230′ so I could see which apartments in the area allow dogs.

I wanted more than just a place where I could bring a pup with me though. If I was going to move, I wanted to move up, not sideways or even down. The house I had been renting was an old farmhouse, so it was not very modern in any of the living areas. I wanted to make sure the apartment I was going to move into was a lot nicer than what I had been used to the past several years. After looking at quite a few apartments, I finally decided to contact Woodbridge Apartments to arrange a tour. (more…)

How I Found My Perfect Apartment

Saturday, July 22nd, 2017

I moved into my new apartment about a month ago. It was one of the best decisions I ever made, because I’m so happy here. I thought that I would take a moment to reflect on how I got to this point, as well as some of the things that I enjoy about my new apartment home. When I began looking for apartments in far North Dallas, I didn’t think that I would find a place is perfect if this. I started searching online because it felt like the most natural way to begin any type of search. I knew what I was looking for in an apartment, and I felt like I was really focused while I was going through the process. I found several apartments that I thought would be a good match, and I schedule appointments to go down in person to tour the property.

The first property I visited just wasn’t a good fit for me. The apartment was as large as it looked online, and I couldn’t figure out how would fit all of my furniture inside. The second-place I visited is actually where I ended up moving. (more…)

Searching for an Apartment with My Mom

Monday, July 10th, 2017

I’m from Atlanta, and I’ve been thinking about moving back to the area for at least a year now. I have been living in Texas for the past five years, mostly because this is where my job is located. I have an opportunity to start a brand-new job in my hometown, and I’m really considering it. I called my mom to tell her that I was looking for apartments in 30318. That’s all I had to say, and she got really excited. She knew that meant that I was considering moving back home. I asked her if she would help me look for a place to live, and she immediately encouraged me to move back home. I thanked her for her offer, but I told her that I’ve been living alone for so long that I really want my own place. (more…)

Setting Up a Barrier for Flat Roof Protection is Pretty Easy

Monday, May 29th, 2017

We found out that maintenance crews were damaging our roof. They would take any path they desired to get to the equipment they were fixing. The building manager told us that architecturally there should be paths set up for people to walk on in specific areas of the roof. He told us about a barrier for flat roof areas that keep people on a path. They are kind of like tiles you put down to distribute weight and make a path. They are then lined with demarcation barriers that are posts with chains. You do not have to make any holes in the roof. The barrier posts have heavy rubber bases that stay in place in high winds, and the chains run between the posts. (more…)

Almost Done with the Paper Work

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

In fact you would not really think that any of this would be so big of a deal, since the house is very small and it sits on a mere two tenths of an acre of land. I have had the money for the down payment all along, I thought that I would not have been very close to it when I was starting to look at it. However there is a lot more to it than I expected to this. I realized that you would have to get Florida home insurance, that is easy to realize. The loan is going to be relatively tiny, not even as much as a lot of loans for really nice cars. However the bank is going to want to get that money back, with interest as well. They will want it back if the house burns down, they will want to get it back if a big hurricane comes around and blows the house down like the big bad wolf. They do not care if I am dead and unable to pay, they want the money back. (more…)

The Project is Just Underway

Monday, May 22nd, 2017

Of course I am a really noob in this place, so it was a great thing that they found me a really good local assistant. She used to work for a delivery service called Pengiriman express and she seems to know the city of Jakarta like it was the back of her hand. The project is going to take about six months if it all goes exactly as planned, but of course in the three decades that I have been managing large construction projects that has not ever happened. Things always go wrong and you have to allow for bad weather and things not getting where they need to be, when they need to be there. I think that I shall be able to get this one in under budget if I manage it well, but only if the whole project is going to be on the right path as long as it is supposed to be.

The language barriers here are really significant. (more…)

We Have Navigated Most of the Red Tape

Monday, May 22nd, 2017

I have just now gotten most of the paper work done, registering with the people in town hall at Destin Beach. That seemed to be the best way to go about it, but of course this is as much retirement as it is a business. That does not mean that you do not have to do all of the stuff the way that it has to be done. The authorities expect you to pay up obviously and just today I have get the Gulf Coast business insurance settled up. They picked a doctor and they sent both me and Captain Roy to see him for a physical, of course they want to make sure that we have a clean bill of health. (more…)

I Knew I Needed Better Leadership Skills

Saturday, May 20th, 2017

I am a good enough leader, I think, that I realized I wasn’t a good enough leader and needed leadership development training. Does that make sense? I have always said that the best leaders are those men and women who realize what they lack to become an even better leader. Leadership isn’t using the right buzzwords or even knowing how to delegate to underlings. The best leaders are the people who can motivate people to do a better job. You want your people to want to work harder for you. You also want them to look up to you and recognize that they want to work for you.

I could do most of the technical parts of being a leader, but thought I lacked that charisma that makes people want to give you their all. That’s why I went online in search of a consulting group that could help me become better at what I do. (more…)

Looking Better Requires Strong Dedication

Monday, May 15th, 2017

Shaun T is someone I have looked up to for a long time. Ever since I heard about the Insanity program and tried it, I knew that he was the type of person who could help me get to where I wanted to be. I was a pretty scrawny kid who ballooned up to 210 pounds in college because of poor habits. I was able to lose a good bit of it, and the Insanity program helped get me in even better shape. When I took a look at the T25 schedule, which is his new program, I knew that I wanted to try it for myself. (more…)

Switching to a Custom Set of Golf Clubs Lowered My Par

Friday, May 12th, 2017

I used to buy golf clubs as a complete set. Since I started playing when I was 12, I have owned five sets. My new set of clubs is put together with specific clubs that I like the best. I like one brand of driver, another brand of putter, a different sand wedge and I finally found the best golf chipper to round out my club set. I used to go around the course with a club set and bag that matched. There is no sense in that unless the company is paying you to be a billboard. It is better to get the clubs that help you play the best game you can.

I learned this when I received a driver as a birthday gift from a golfing buddy. He had it made specifically for me. (more…)

My Back Has Gone out Again

Thursday, March 23rd, 2017

I spent about fifteen minutes trying to get out of my bed the other morning. I knew at once that it was something I had dealt with before. In essence I have been dealing with on and off back issues for close to fifteen years. The original problem started back when I used to live my life in a really hard way, which is to say I drank a lot and hung out with other guys who partied all the time. The first time I went to see a Cumming chiropractor. I was living in the suburbs of Atlanta GA and it was not that long after I had graduated from college. At any rate it was a simple thing. I laid down on the table and the guy started to move things around in my back. If I really known what he was going to do, then I would have been scared. If it all goes to plan, there is nothing to worry about. (more…)

A Distracted Driver Caused My Injuries

Thursday, January 12th, 2017

When I was involved in an accident a couple of years ago, I didn’t even think about hiring an auto accident attorney in Sacramento at first. The facts of the accident were so cut and dried that I didn’t think I needed one. However, when the insurance company offered me a settlement that barely covered my lost wages from it, I knew I needed some help. It was not that I was being greedy, because that was the furthest thought from my mind. I just knew that I had a long road ahead of me, and that settlement offer was not taking that into account.

I was not even sure if I would be able to go back to work yet. I was still in physical therapy trying to regain the strength in both of my arms as well as my right leg. (more…)

My Uncle is Now a Believer in Chiropractic Care

Thursday, January 12th, 2017

My uncle is a foreman for a construction crew. Some might think that his job is easier since he just oversees a bunch of workers, but I think he works harder than any two of his workers put together. There used to be some nights when he would come home so sore that he didn’t even want to eat dinner. He would soak in the tub for a bit, then he would usually lay down with a heating pad. That all changed when I convinced him to visit a chiropractor in Campbell CA.

He honestly had no desire to see this type of doctor, but that was just because he didn’t know anything about them. He did not realize that they go to school for many years and actually take a lot of classes that primary care physicians must take. (more…)

We Needed to Make Sure We Got Help Immediately

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

We have a family with many hunters in it. When they visit, they often bring some of the meat from their hunts. So when our extra freezer stopped working it was imperative that we get some major appliance repair in Sacramento to get the freezer working again. We have a lot of venison and wild boar that would go to waste if we didn’t get it working in time. We could not afford to buy a new one anytime soon, and we hoped that it would not come down to that in the end.

While trying to work on the freezer himself, my husband ended up breaking something inside the freezer. That was when I told him that we needed to get someone who really knew what they were doing to fix it before he ended up breaking something permanently. (more…)
